Revlon: Whimsical

Holy Cranky!!! It's COLD.

How is everyone today? I hope all are well and keeping warm, at least those of you living in the colder regions. I'm here with a space heater at my desk roasting the left side of my face. Today I have a polish that I was lemming for a long time. It's Whimsical, a milky blue "crelly" base with a mix of blue, baby blue, pink & fuschia (I think) glitters. Everytime I encountered a Revlon display of course it was NOT there! So when I walked in to Rite Aid and saw it I immediately grabbed it. And even better, it was 75% off. What a steal. The nail polish gods were looking after me.

Well, after I slapped on 4 coats of Whimsical, I was left disappointed and underwhelmed. It is not what I thought it would be. It has an almost dinghy look to it, if you know what I mean. Maybe I need to layer it over a brighter blue. The formula was ok. I didn't have any issues other than its sheerness ( is that a word?) Well, here you go.

Hello and Happy New Year everyone. I have more of a picture post for you since I am recovering from last nights festivities. Mr. Lusty and I partied until 3am before we made our way home. I had a good time though. Today I just want to show a few polishes from MmmmNails that I have recently swatched.

 

 

Party Girl

 

 Party Girl is a mix of green, white & iredescent multisized hex glitter and teal bar glitter in a clear base. I used 2 coats over Pure Ice Gift of Gold.

 

 

 

Candies R For Kids

Candies R For Kids is a mix of purple/fushia diamond glitter, purple square glitter, pink barer glitter and small iredescent glitter in a clear base. I used 2 coats over Revlon Dreamer.

 

 

 

Yes or No

Yes or No is a Mix of black bar glitter and multisized and shaped red glitter in a clear base. I used 2 coats over OPI Skull & Glossbones.

 

 

 

 

I'm Just 21

I'm Just 21 is a green to bluey purple shifting flakie. I used 1 coat over OPI Black Onyx.

 

 

 

 

Rent Free

Rent Free is a mix of Black diamond shped glitter, Smaller black hex glitter, silver holo bar glitter as well as small pink iredescent glitter in a clear base. I used 2 coats over OPI Think Pink!

 

 

 

The Recipe

The Recipe is a golden holo base with some larger gold glitters in it. I used 2 coats with no "undies."



 









China Glaze Optical Illusion

This is the mani I am wearing today. I was sporting Revlon Whimsical which is a gorgeous dusty grey toned light blue but I got a little bored since I can't keep a mani for more than a few days. I layered one coat of China Glaze Optical Illusion and it jazzed my mani right up. ChG Optical Illusion is a multicolored glitter with some holographic microglitter in a light blue jelly base. I must say the formula on this was nice and surprisingly opaque. I bet if I wore it on its own it would have built up nicely with 2 or 3 coats. The holo was hard to capture with my camera phone since my digital camera met its demise :(

1 coat of ChG Optical Illusion over 2 coats of Revlon Whimsical and 2 coats of Sally Hansen InstaDry

Look at that Sparkle :-P
